A GIG ABOUT THE BROKEN-HEARTED
A lot happened in 1965. The first ever Tamla-Motown tour came to the UK and brought the Northern Soul movement into the mainstream. It was the year the UK created the Race Relations Act which prohibited discrimination against someone on the grounds of race. Jane also discovered and lost love in a small village in West Yorkshire.
50 years later at the Northern Soul dance championships at the top of Blackpool tower two families come together again. Jay and Ryan have a second chance to right the wrongs of their community.
But, how much has really changes in 50 years?
A piece of gig theatre about the responsibility whiteness has in racism.
What Becomes? was originally developed and performed in York in another form. A new version will go into further development in 2019, I am currently looking for a musical collaborator.
