Hi! I'm Tom - I'm a writer and a fundraiser. I run a company called BAP! which you can find info about on the other side of the page. If you want to some more about my writing outside of BAP! then check out the ABOUT ME page. But, if you just want to get my vibe, here's a quick overview.
I want to write things that explore different kinds of imagination. I often work with non-writing collaborators (e.g. sound designers) from the conception stage of my work to integrate different elements and sometimes I work with communities and people who wouldn't say they're artists.
I'm currently attached to The Royal Court exploring disabled dramaturgy and to Oxford Playhouse as part of their playmaker programme writing a play called "Blackpool Lights".
I was one of the Starting Blocks Artists with CPT for 2021 and in a Royal Court Writers Group in 2021.
The Black Hole Project is a series of shows I'm making about epilepsy, childhood hospitalisation and play.
I've also got an MA in Writing Musicals so I can sometimes be found writing book too.
BAP! was born out of my frustration at who has a monopoly on imagination, we work within a cultural organising model and we're trying to do 3 things to change who gets to imagine the future:
We create projects which change who get to imagine the future. These projects might include theatre shows but only as part of a larger project, we work within a cultural organising model.
We're an accessible development department for companies and artists that want to do some fundraising, develop strategy, or move towards a cultural organising model and get it funded.
Our aim is to help people fundraise until they don't need us anymore, so we created our _organises strand too. We create training and development programmes in targeted areas of the sector in an attempt to make ourselves pointless.
